Thaipusam is a Hindu festival celebrated mostly by the Tamil community on the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai. This colorful festival is celebrated in Batu Caves, about 13km north of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, this year it took place on the 9th of February. Devotees impale their bodies with long metal skewers, metal hooks and spikes during the event as well as carry giant metal constructions (called kavadis) which makes it very graphic and a paradise for photographers. This is my third time following this impressive event and every time I get the same feeling. It is overwhelming to see the devotees climb up the 272 stairs to the very top of the cave.

Here are some of the shots I got that day.
